Do you remember the song, “Don’t Worry, Be Happy?” Here is the first verse of this song: “Here’s a little song I wrote; you might want to sing it note for note. Don’t worry, be happy. In every life we have some trouble, but when you worry you make it double. Don’t worry, be happy. Don’t worry, be happy now.”
Years ago when this song was released, a friend of mine and I worked together and we would always say, “Don’t worry, be happy.” If she started with don’t worry, I finished with be happy or vice versa and then we laughed.
The lyrics are so simple and yet filled with a wonderful truth. When you worry about something, you are focusing on it, and what happens is it attracts more of what you don’t want into your life. If you will “be happy” and not worry, then you are shifting your thoughts away from what you don’t want and that moves you in the direction of what you do want… allowing you to “be happy now.”
It’s been fun remembering how much joy this song brought into my life. In fact, I changed the ringtone on my phone. I bet you know what my ringtone is now… smiling…
Be happy now…
With much love,
Alice
