Keeping Life Simple

The title of this post seems easy enough to do, so why don’t we keep life simple?  I believe it’s because we want to be in control of every miniscule detail that is going on in our lives, and when we live from the place of control, this is where stress, anxiety and frustration are found.  This keeps life anything but simple.

Remember the book titled, “Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff, and It’s All Small Stuff?”  What a great book!  You may want to read or re-read this book as it offers great ideas on how to keep the little things from taking over your life.

How do we get back to keeping our life simple?  The first step is to “let go” and “let it be.”  We must retrain our mindset to stop trying to figure out the hows, the whys and the whens in our life.  In other words, RELAX.  Take a deep breath in and as you slowly exhale, think on the really great things that are in your life today, right now.  Take a moment and enjoy the abundance of blessings that surround you.  This grants you the opportunity to welcome the beauty that is in your life as you transition your thoughts to a place of gratitude, thus shifting your way of thinking back to a less complicated, simpler life.

I love the children’s books by Dr. Seuss because his books were written with a message to every one regardless of age.  He shared with us how to keep life simple.  Here are just a few quotes that are in his books.

“Don’t cry because it’s over.  Smile because it happened.”

“If things start happening, don’t worry, don’t stew, just go right along and you’ll start happening too.”

“Only you can control your future.”

“Today is your day, your mountain is waiting.  So get on your way.”

Each of these quotes suggests that we have the choice to not get caught up in “stuff” that happens in our lives, but to let it be, go with the flow and this allows you and I to live life with an ebb and flow instead of the highs and lows.

I’ve lived my life from both places, and once I connected to the gentleness of the ebb and flow, this is when my world was transformed to living a simpler life once again.  I genuinely let go of the control that I once felt was needed in my life and that is when I got my life back!  It’s all about the choices we make in our lives.  Let the choices you make translate to keeping life simple.

With much love,

Alice

About I am Alice

If anyone would have asked me three years ago if I had ever considered writing books, I would have promptly answered, "No." Today, it is a very natural feeling to write. I suppose since I enjoy talking so much, and I mean a lot, it should not have surprised me! I love communicating through writing as I feel completely united with my soul and my thoughts flow, often times as well as tears as I am altogether emerged in that feeling, in that moment. Check out the "About Alice" page to find out why I titled this site, "I am Alice" and why, "It Feels Good To Be ME."
